you ruined forever for me

forever
will never fall on my ears the same
I flinch when I hear it
not a word, but a pain
no petals, just pain
like a slap to the face
for you said it to me
when we pressed together
lovers between sheets
flowers pressed
between the pages of our poetry
something delicate, we tried to preserve
everything we were
forever
forever was one flower
amongst the many we planted
what we thought was a garden
turned to a graveyard overnight
what we planted, we buried
seeds of our future
that never saw the light
forever was a flower
too delicate to last
what we thought was ahead
was already in the past
you ruined forever for me
I think I mean just the word
I hope I mean just the word
